I realize you are trying to be objective and trying to avoid labeling organizations, but I do not think that anyone will object to an icon with an animal genealogically related to a donkey. <BR/><BR/>P.S. This line is key: " I know that liberal or conservative doesn't necessary translate to the political parties directly."
